Eleven top philosophers from the Universities from Poland, Greece, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia, attended the opening of The Fifth International Philosophers dialogue “EAST – WEST”, which was held on October 2nd 2019 in the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, starting at 11 AM. Organized by the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, The International Slavic University of G.R. Derzhavin, Faculty of Philosophy at the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” from Skopje and the Philosophical Society of Macedonia from October 2nd to October 4th 2019, the Fifth International Philosophical Dialogue “EAST – WEST” was held.
Academic Vlado Kambovski from the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Jordan Gjorcev, PhD, the president of the Board at the International Slavic University “G.R. Derzhavin”, Ivan Dzeparoski, PhD, head of the Institute of Philosophy at UKIM and the President of the Philosophical Society of Macedonia Ljupco Mitkovski gave a speech. Josef Nizhnik, PhD, professor at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Polish Academy of Sciences, Ivan Dzparoski, Head of the institute of Philosophy at UKIM and Boshko Karadzov, PhD, professor of Philosophy presented their work.
The theme of the gathering was “The Crisis of the Idea of Europe”. Prominent academics, professors and philosophical researchers from Poland, Greece, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia took part in this event. The dialogue took place in three Macedonian cities: Skopje, Bitola and Ohrid.
On October 3rd (Thursday) on the premises of the International Slavic University “G.R. Derzhavin” in Bitola, the second part of the Fifth International Philosophical Dialogue “EAST – WEST”, continued. The theme of the symposium was “The Crisis of the Idea of Europe”.

At this session, Dragan Prole, PhD, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad, Risto Solunchev, PhD, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at UKIM, Evangelos Propopapadakis, PhD, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Athens in Greece and Milan Gjorgjev, PhD, Vice Dean for Science and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Theology at UKIM presented their work.
The Fifth Philosophical Dialogue “EAST – WEST” ended in the conference hall of Hotel Palace Garden in Ohrid.
At the last session of the dialogue, on October 4th (Friday), Darko Jogo, PhD, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dejan Donev, PhD, and Ljubomir Gajdov from North Macedonia and Georgios Iliopoulos from Greece, presented their work.
