Abstract: The idea of human rights began to develop sometime in the second half of the 20th century. Then the first human rights documents appeared, namely: the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, then the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of the Council of Europe of 1950, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights of 1966 and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966, as well as the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU of 2000.
