Abstract:
The concept of diplomacy in attracting Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in the Republic of North Macedonia is crucial for the country’s economic growth and development. FDI plays a significant role not only in increasing the national economic output but also in technology transfer, job creation, infrastructure improvement, and boosting the overall competitiveness of the economy. Given the globalized nature of today’s economy, attracting foreign investments becomes a strategic priority for North Macedonia. Diplomacy serves as a powerful tool in this process by promoting the country’s economic advantages, fostering international partnerships, and creating a favorable business environment to attract investors. The paper outlines strategic directions for economic diplomacy, emphasizing the promotion of the country’s economy, deepening trade and investment relations, supporting exports, and the development of energy diplomacy. Furthermore, the role of diplomatic channels in facilitating investments is explored, including diplomatic missions, international partnerships, and active economic diplomacy through embassies and consulates. The paper also highlights necessary measures for enhancing the investment climate, such as developing special economic zones, improving infrastructure, supporting research and development, and effective branding of North Macedonia as an attractive investment destination. Ultimately, this work underscores the importance of an integrated approach to economic diplomacy, combining institutional reforms and international promotion to strengthen the country’s global competitiveness and stimulate sustainable economic growth.
