Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the idiomatic expressions and figures of speech in the work Manchevski: Five Essays by the screenwriter and director Milcho Manchevski, which with this work аdresses the audience as an essayist. The world of the film and the language used in the films are particularly creative and abundant with idiomatic expressions. Hence, the essays written in English are rich with idioms and figures of speech, such as similes, metaphors and hyperbole. The paper analyses the translation of the idioms and figures of speech from English into Macedonian. We notice that some of the idioms are translated with an appropriate idiom, while some are directly or descriptively translated into Macedonian. Regarding the figures of speech, they are adequately translated into Macedonian.
