The First International Philosophical Dialogue: EAST – WEST on the subject “Science and Religion” was held in the period of 2 to 4 September, in Skopje, Sveti Nikole and Ohrid, with participation of prominent philosophers from Russia, Great Britain, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Greece, Albania and Macedonia.
From 2 to 4 September in Skopje, Sveti Nikole and Ohrid for the first time was organized International Philosophical Dialogue “EAST – WEST”, with subject “Science and Religion”. The event is organized by the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts, the International Slavic University “G. R. Derzhavin” Sveti Nikole – Bitola and the Philosophical Society of Macedonia. Eminent philosophers from Russia, Great Britain, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Greece, Albania and Macedonia are part from this dialogue. The first session started in the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts, with welcoming speech and opening remarks by the President, Academician Vlado Kambovski. LINK TO THE ARTICLE
The second working session started with a speech of the Rector of the International Slavic University “G. R. Derzhavin” Sveti Nikole – Bitola, Professor Dr. Dushan Nikolovski:
“The complex issues of the relation between science and religion deserves special attention in the present context, when everyone is thinking about his own existence and the nature of things.”
On the second session, the dialogue continued with presentations from Igor Evlampiev – professor at the Faculty of History of Russian Philosophy at the University of St. Petersburg, Maria Selak – professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb, Mikolaj Slavkov – lecturer at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Oxford, Risto Solunchev – professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” – Skopje, as well as other participants who shared their scientific views for the practical philosophical issues that are affecting every modern man.
The symposium continues tomorrow in Ohrid, and it is expected to end with signing of the Declaration for Peace that will be delivered to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, with hope that it will be delivered to all members of the United Nations.
